As the MLB trade deadline approaches, how many more starts will Yusei Kikuchi

SAN FRANCISCO — With each start Yusei Kikuchi makes, the question is, how many more will he pitch for the Toronto Blue Jays? The Blue Jays continued to sink into sure-seller status after another blowout loss on Tuesday. The San Francisco Giants rallied to beat the Blue Jays 4-3 on a wild pitch from Trevor Richards in the ninth inning at Oracle Park. Richards replaced the unavailable Chad Green, who pitched on back-to-back days in Seattle. The loss to San Francisco ruined Kikuchi’s stellar performance and left the Blue Jays 9 1/2 games out of the American League wild-card spot. Even with 16 games left until the July 30 trade deadline, Toronto is barely in contention, and the Blue Jays would be better off acknowledging that the 2024 season is over and selling at the deadline to plan for the future.
